In commemoration of the lifetime achievement of the late professor Gustave Magnel of Ghent University, the Association of Engineers of Ghent University (AIG), periodically awards the “Gustave Magnel Golden Medal.” Professor Gustave Magnel has founded the Laboratory for Reinforced Concrete in 1926 and was the director until his death in 1955.
